Oil extractor

This tool is used to measure the oil percentage present in the fibers or in the yarns.

The standard test consists in putting 2,5 gr of the material to be analyzed in a stainless steel pipe, to add the right solvent, generally perclhoroethylene, and applying a standard weight. The oil extraction begins at a cold temperature after about 15 minutes and is gathered in the container below. The warming of the container, whose temperature can be regulated thanks to a digital thermometer, allows the evaporation of the solvent. Measuring the weight of the container is thus possible to determine the oil percentage present in the sample.
